Sustainability Rocks raises funds through a high-energy "battle of the bands" event where musical groups from the financial services industry compete for a trophy. The proceeds are generated through ticket sales, merchandise, and corporate sponsorships, which are then distributed among environmental and ecological charities chosen by the participating bands and the event organizers.

In terms of impact, the event has raised £28,000 over the past two years for critical green causes. A significant portion of these funds (50%) supports the Marine Conservation Society as the flagship charity, while the remainder is split between the winning band’s chosen cause and various runner-up charities. Previous causes include the Woodland Trust, Trees for Life, and Wildlife Aid.
